DESCRIPTION:The ESVS Academy invites you to their upcoming workshop: Controversial case discussion ACST II trial: to treat or not to treat. \nJoin: C. Schrimpf\, HH Eckstein\, B Rantner\, A Halliday  \nPlease note that this workshop is being postponed until further notice. \nWe apologise for the inconvenience. \nObjective \nAsymtomatic carotid artery Stenosis is a very common vascular disorder based on generalized atherosclerosis within the vascular bed. Treatment of severe carotid artery stenosis is performed to restore patency and reduce stroke risk. Nevertheless\, the procedural risk for disabeling stroke or death is about 1% in CAS and CEA. The course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge useful in their daily practice. The course will highlight the findings of the ACST II trial based on clinical cases and also highlight current treatment guidelines on carotid artery stenosis. \nDuring this workshop\, each expert will present a case of carotid artery stenosis and the way the patient was treated (max. 8 min/case for a total of 36 min). This will be followed by a discussion of each case in the expert panel and questions from the audience (36 min/ total). At the end\, a summary will be given highlighting the important key points discussed during the session (10 min). \nBy attending this course\, participants will learn\, based on real life clinical cases\, how the findings of the ACST II impact the treatment for asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis. The participants will be able to decide if they are up to date with the latest carotid surgery treatment recommendations and will be able to adjust their treatment accordingly. The WS aims to help practitioners decide to find the most appropriate therapy for their patient.  \nParticipants’ qualifications \nThe Controversial case discussion is designed for every vascular surgeon\, vascular surgeon in training or interventional radiologist\, angiologist or interested general practitioners who deal with asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis during daily practice. A general knowledge of therapies for asymptomatic carotid stenosis is expected. Also experienced surgeons can benefit from this workshop as findings of the ACST II trial and current treatment guidelines in relation to real life clinical cases and treatment strategies will be discussed. Of note: the workshop does not explain how to perform carotid surgery or stenting. \nThe course is open to vascular surgeons\, vascular surgeons in training\, vascular nurses\, angiologists and interventional radiologists as well as technologists from all around the world. \nRegistration fee & cancellation policy \n€ 25 for ESVS members and € 30 for non-members. It seems that there is a lack of vascular surgeons treating venous pathologies. Thus the course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge useful in their daily practice. As the pool of phlebological patients is very wide and many treatment modalities can be utilised\, the course will highlight the indications for some specific methods\, which are the most appropriate for given patients. Due to the fact that new ESVS clinical practice guidelines on the management of chronic venous disease of the lower limbs were published in 2022\, there is a need to update the knowledge to improve treatment efficiency. \nBy attending this course\, participants will know the indications for some specific treatment modalities and be able to decide if they are the most appropriate for given patient. A thought that there is no unique and perfect treatment modality for each patient will be presented and highlighted. DESCRIPTION:The ESVS Academy invites you to Bellvitge University Hospital for the upcoming Hands-on Workshop in Vascular Ultrasound. \n4-6 May 2022 \nObjective  \nThe course provides a thorough grounding in the clinical skills to work in vascular ultrasound. \nDuring the course\, participants are presented an intensive series of short lectures focussed on technical aspects of the different US examinations. Lecturers explain the examinations while performing one in the same room on selected patients. \nClassroom teaching is supplemented by sessions at the Vascular Laboratory\, where participants have the opportunity to practice their skills under supervision on patients with relevant disease and on silicone models for  US guided puncture. Hands-on sessions last  5 hours each day. (4 participants /1 tutor/ 1 station) \nE-learning module \nBefore attending the course\, participants will have access to an on-line blended learning module that will introduce them to the basic knowledge of ultrasound and the standards of the different examinations. \nThe e-learning module includes:\n• all presentations of previous editions.\n• a quiz that helps to review basic concepts of US physics\, the anatomy of commonly examined areas and most important diagnostic criteria.\n• a forum open to questions from all participants.\n• a survey about previous US experience that will help us to prepare the groups for the workshop.\nThis preparatory module is intended as a tool to save time in lectures\, allowing more time for hands-on practice. Early thrombosis most often due to an inflow problem and late thrombosis mostly to an outflow stenosis. If left untreated\, it results in the fistula failure. Graft thrombosis is most often caused by neointimal hyperplasia. Thrombosis can be also a complication of needling. Treatment options include surgical thrombectomy or an endovascular approach which involves mechanical or pharmacologic thrombolysis. \nThe course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge useful in their daily practice. The course will highlight the indications for a surgical or an endovascular technique\, which are the most appropriate for given patients. The eligible cases will be presented\, and designed treatment indicated. \nThe course is designed for vascular surgeons who are performing vascular access surgery. SUMMARY:Basic Course in Vascular Ultrasound
DESCRIPTION:The ESVS Academy and the Department of Vascular Surgery\, Rigshospitalet\, Denmark invite you to the upcoming Basic Course in Vascular Ultrasound. \n27\, 28 and 29 January 2022 \nObjective  \nVascular ultrasound is an important imaging modality in vascular surgery. The objective with this course is to teach the participants to be able to perform some of the most basic vascular ultrasound examinations: abdominal aorta\, femoral arteries\, peripheral bypasses\, basic carotid ultrasound\, percutaneous access\, deep venous thromboses and varicose veins. \nParticipants will have the opportunity to practice their skills under supervision during the course. This course corresponds to the curriculum of the theoretical part of EFSUMB Level 1 in Vascular Ultrasound (European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology). Online quizzes and tests will be conducted regularly during the course and the faculty underlines that attendance in the entire course is mandatory in order to receive course certificate and CME points. \nParticipants’ qualifications \nThe course is designed for vascular surgeons\, vascular surgeons in training and vascular nurses and technologist. No prior ultrasound experience is required but basic knowledge of vascular anatomy and physiology is expected. \nRegistration fee \n€ 1050 for ESVS members and € 1200 for non-members. SUMMARY:PAD Pathways : Endovascular treatment of below the knee pathology – tips and tricks
DESCRIPTION:The first ESVS Academy session of 2022 \n20th January (18:00-20:00) \n  \n \nThis workshop will provide information about advanced tips and tricks when performing endovascular procedures on arteries below the knee. Convenors will describe indications for revascularisation and optimal patient selection\, techniques step by step from the approach to the treatment. \nImportantly\, the limited number of attendees will allow for an interactive session\, to discuss clinical cases between the speakers and the audience. \nYann GOUËFFIC and Alessandro COSTANZO look forward to seeing you.   \n  \nIntended audience: \nThe course is designed for physicians that already performing endovascular interventions on peripheral arteries on femoro popliteal segment and would like to expand their field of treatment or for those that are already performing interventions below the knee and are seeking for tips. \nAn advanced and intermediate level of knowledge of attendees is expected. DESCRIPTION:Preparing for the FEBVS Exam? This Pathways module is for you  – December 9th 2021. \nFEBVS Exam Preparation (Aortic) \n \nThe overarching objective of the FEBVS exam prep course on the ESVS Pathways Project is to prepare candidates for some of the different parts of the FEBVS examination. This part of the course prepares candidates for the viva voce section of the examination. SUMMARY:Venous Pathway Module: Deep and pelvic veins treatment – when to open and when to occlude?
DESCRIPTION:Presenting the next workshop in the Academy Venous Pathway  \n \nAs deep and pelvic veins disorders are not commonly treated\, there is need to show the possibilities of therapeutical options in this field. The course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge useful in their daily practice. During this workshop\, upon presented cases\, participants will discuss with the experienced convenors about the various factors influencing the outcomes of a deep venous stenting procedure and venous embolization and also the indications for these interventions\, various techniques of the procedures (stents\, balloons\,coils\, fluids\, foam).
