SUMMARY:EVST PAD Online Competition - May 2024
DESCRIPTION:Based on the huge success of the EVST Aortic Competition (online)\, EVST invites you to another edition of the competition – the EVST PAD Competition (online) on 6th May 2024\, with a CLTI case and TASC C/D aortoiliac lesion! \nParticipation in this PAD competition is limited to EVST members\, but all who wish to watch are invited to join. To register for the audience\, please email info@esvs.org. \nFaculty: Prof. Dr. Kak Khee Yeung (Amsterdam UMC)\, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Dorweiler (University Hospital Cologne)\, Dr. Peter Goverde (ZNA Vascular Clinic in Antwerp)\nModerators: Dr. Petar Zlatanovic\, Dr. Donna Wouters\, Dr. Moritz Wegner and Dr. Harm Ebben \nThis competition is designed to enhance and promote knowledge in managing patients with chronic limb-threatening ischaemia and TASC C/D aortoiliac lesions\, starting from preoperative planning until postoperative patient management (whole spectrum of care). Applicants should have experience in the management of CLTI patients with complex aortoiliac lesions before applying for this competition. \nHow will it work?\n \nOnce participants have submitted their motivation letter\, they will be invited to complete a quiz. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their motivation letter and quiz score. The four best candidates will be selected and will receive a preselected case with diagnostic CTA to solve. Each selected participant should prepare to present a solution for the proposed case (~5 min presentation + ~5 min discussion) starting from pre- and postoperative planning\, continuing with procedure itself and finishing with postoperative workup. The case description with all necessary data will be provided beforehand. A jury consisting of faculty and EVST moderators will announce the winner at the end of the competition and afterwards\, each of the senior faculty will present the actual solution that was carried out! All of this will be performed in a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere\, so don’t be stressed! \nTarget audience: Participation in this competition is limited to EVST members. Participation in this competition is limited to EVST members. Applicants should be familiar with the concept of vascular trauma before applying for this competition. All who wish to join the audience are welcome. \nRegistration: \nRegistration competitors: To apply for this online competition\, please send a very short motivation letter to info@esvs.org. You will receive a link to the online quiz\, which should be completed as soon as possible. Each participant will then be shortlisted based on their letter and the quiz. The four highest scoring candidates will receive a case including CTAs and baseline clinical characteristics\, which should be used to produce the presentation. Those invited to compete will be sent a link to make a deposit of 50 euros to hold their space in the competition. This will be refunded after the event. \nPlease note\, applications will close at midday on 26th April. The shortlisted candidates will be announced on 29th April and cases will be shared at this point. All shortlisted candidates participating in the competition will need to prepare their presentation by 6th May.  \nRegistration audience: Please email us at info@esvs.org to register to be in the audience! \nPrize: The prize for this competition is four weeks’ rotation at the Department of Vascular Surgery\, University Hospital Cologne (chief prof. If you don’t wish to appear on these recordings\, please ensure your camera is switched off prior to the start of the session. \nCancellation policy: We encourage you to let us know as early as possible if you are not able to attend the competition\, to free up a place for someone else. For cancellations received more than 4 days before the event\, the deposit will be refunded\, less an administration fee of 10 EUR. Hospital Clínic (Barcelona) \nFull Programme here\nObjective: The course provides a thorough grounding in the clinical skills to work in vascular ultrasound. During the course\, participants are presented with an intensive series of short lectures focused on technical aspects of the different US examinations. Classroom teaching is supplemented by sessions at the Vascular Laboratory\, where participants have the opportunity to practice their skills under supervision on patients with relevant disease and homemade puncture models for US-guided puncture. The course includes 60% of time on hands-on on machines and real patients\, in several vascular ultrasound disciplines. The workshop is addressed mainly to novice trainees and to those willing to prepare for the CCVUS examination. \nE-learning module: Before attending the course\, participants will have access to an online blended learning module that will introduce them to the basic knowledge of ultrasound and the standards of the different examinations. The e-learning module includes:\n• all presentations of previous editions\n• PowerPoint of each issue\n• a quiz that helps to review basic concepts of US physics\, the anatomy of commonly examined areas\, and the most important diagnostic criteria.\n• a forum open to questions from all participants.\n• a survey about previous US experience that will help us to prepare the groups for the workshop \nThis preparatory module is intended as a tool to save time in lectures\, allowing more time for hands-on practice. It will open 15 days before the course and close one month after it. Registered participants will receive access instructions before April 20th. \nAccreditation: CME accreditation is being sought for this course. \nParticipants’ qualifications: The workshop is addressed mainly to novice trainees and to those willing to prepare for the CCVUS examination. \nRegistration fee & cancellation policy: The registration fee is €800 for ESVS members and €1000 for non-members.
