SUMMARY:EVST PAD Online Competition - December 2024
DESCRIPTION:Participation in this PAD competition is limited to EVST members\, but all who wish to watch are invited to join\, up to November 29th – no ticket necessary. To register for the audience or to compete\, please email info@esvs.org. See below for more details \nBased on the past successes of the EVST Competitions (online)\, EVST invites you to another edition – the EVST PAD Competition (online) on 9th December 2024\, with a CLTI case and femoro-distal lesions!  \nFaculty:\nDr. Luuk Smeets\, Rijnstate Hospital\, the Netherlands;\nProf. Athanasios D. Giannoukas\, University Hospital of Larissa\, Greece;\nDavid Garcia García\, Spain \nModerators:\nDr. Petar Zlatanovic\,\nDr Gabriela Loria\,\nDr Konstantinos Tzimkas-Dakis\,\nDr Desiree van den Hondel \nThis competition is designed to enhance and promote knowledge in managing patients with chronic limb-threatening ischaemia and femoro-distal lesions\, starting from preoperative planning until postoperative patient management (whole spectrum of care). Applicants should have experience in the management of CLTI patients with complex femoro-distal lesions before applying for this competition. \nHow will it work?\nOnce participants have submitted their motivation letter\, they will be invited to complete a quiz. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their motivation letter and quiz score. The three best candidates will be selected and will receive a preselected case with diagnostic CTA to solve. Each selected participant should prepare to present a solution for the proposed case (~5 min presentation + ~5 min discussion) starting from pre- and postoperative planning\, continuing with procedure itself and finishing with postoperative workup. The case description with all necessary data will be provided beforehand. The faculty will present the actual solution that was carried out! Afterwards\, a jury consisting of faculty and EVST moderators\, helped by the audience votes\, will announce the winner at the end of the competition! All of this will be performed in a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere\, so don’t be stressed! \nTarget audience: Participation in this competition is limited to EVST members. Applicants should be familiar with the concept of vascular trauma before applying for this competition. All who wish to join the audience are welcome. \nRegistration:\nRegistration competitors: To apply for this online competition\, please send a very short motivation letter to info@esvs.org. You will receive a link to the online quiz\, which should be completed as soon as possible. Each participant will then be shortlisted based on their letter and the quiz. The three highest scoring candidates will receive a case including CTAs and baseline clinical characteristics\, which should be used to produce the presentation. Those invited to compete will be sent a link to make a deposit of 50 euros to hold their space in the competition. This will be refunded after the event. \nPlease note\, applications will close at midday on 29th November. The shortlisted candidates will be announced on 2nd December and cases will be shared at this point. All shortlisted candidates participating in the competition will need to prepare their presentation by 6th December.  \nRegistration audience: Please email us at info@esvs.org to register to be in the audience! \nPrize: The prize for this competition is four weeks’ rotation at the Department of Vascular Surgery\, Rijnstate Hospital\, the Netherlands (Prof. Michel Reijnen). The two people in second and third place will each get one free registration for an ESVS Academy online workshop\, either: “How to make a meta-analysis” or “Viva Voce practice for the FEBVS exam” that will be organized in 2025\, according to preference. \nPlease be aware that the online session will be recorded and following the session we may use the recording across Social Media and communication platforms and in our ESVS Library. If you don’t wish to appear on these recordings\, please ensure your camera is switched off prior to the start of the session. \nCancellation policy: We encourage you to let us know as early as possible if you are not able to attend the competition\, to free up a place for someone else. For cancellations received more than 4 days before the event\, the deposit will be refunded\, less an administration fee of 10 EUR. For cancellations received less than 4 days before the event\, no refund of the deposit is possible.
