DESCRIPTION:We are very proud to announce the third PAD KOL Forum in the series! \nKey Opinion Leader Forum 6: PAD – Diabetic Foot\nYou will be able to pose your questions to our panel: KOLs Alberto Settembrini\, Dave Russell\, Luca Dalla Paola and Gwendolyn Cazander\, as well as Kak Khee Yeung\, the PAD Pathway Lead. \nKOL Forum 6: PAD ticket – Members only event \n \nNot yet a member?\n→ JOIN THE ESVS COMMUNITY TODAY \nObjective:\nDo you have a challenging case? Are you unsure how to treat aortic issues? Do you want a different perspective? Are you a member? Then you are welcome join our new KOL Forum to hear how a KOL would treat your case! This is an educational initiative for those with moderate to advanced vascular surgery knowledge. It allows participants to ask and get a response to burning questions on moderate to difficult cases by either submitting them for possible selection in the Forum\, or via the KOL Forum case library. You can also just join and learn! The sessions are designed to: \nProvide more advanced training to experienced surgeons\nProvide a rare opportunity to interact with THE experts in a field\nReceive advice on personal cases\nBe informal spaces\nBe exclusive for members\n________________________________________________________________________________ \nThis PAD KOL Forum. the sixth in the series\, will host Alberto Settembrini\, Dave Russell\, Luca Dalla Paolo and Gwendolyn Cazander\, \nDr. Alberto Settembrini is a vascular surgeon with extensive training in Italy and in leading centres across Europe and the United States. His expertise encompasses both endovascular and open vascular procedures for the treatment of carotid and aortic diseases\, with a special focus on critical limb-threatening ischaemia and diabetic foot management. He is currently practicing at IRCCS MultiMedica in Sesto San Giovanni\, Milan\, a renowned centre for diabetic foot care and peripheral arterial disease management. Dr. Settembrini routinely performs endovascular and surgical interventions for carotid\, aortic\, and peripheral arterial diseases. He is the author of peer-reviewed publications on various aspects of vascular surgery and frequently serves as a speaker at international conferences and as a reviewer for different vascular surgery journals. He is an active member of the Italian Society of Vascular Surgery\, the ESVS Library Committee\, and the International Relations Committee of the Society of Vascular Surgery. Dr. Settembrini is also a Fellow and currently an examiner for the European Board of Vascular Surgery. \n\n  \nDavid Russell trained as a general and vascular surgeon in the Yorkshire and Humber region\, UK. His interest in the diabetic foot flourished during his vascular fellowship in Adelaide\, Australia\, where he had the opportunity to work closely alongside an integrated MDT team. He was appointed to Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust\, UK as a consultant vascular surgeon with interest in diabetic foot disease in 2010 and has developed the local MDT clinic\, community foot protection team and research capacity locally since this time. \nDavid has research interests in assessment of ischaemia and decision making around revascularisation; wound healing; early detection of infection; he is an Associate Professor at the Leeds Institute of Clinical Trials Research\, University of Leeds. He holds a prestigious NIHR Advanced Fellowship\, is the Chief Investigator for both the UK NIHR HTA funded MIDFUT trial and NIHR Academy funded DOMINO-DFU study\, and Co-Investigator for the UK NIHR HTA funded CODIFI2 trial. He is a member of the Research Committee of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland as the chair of the diabetic foot research specialist interest group. He is a member of NICE and IWGDF guideline committees on the diabetic foot. In addition\, David has a keen interest in teaching with both regional and national roles in training vascular surgeons in diabetic foot management. \n \nDr. Gwendolyn Cazander is a European certified vascular surgeon. Since 2016\, she has been working as a general and vascular surgeon in Ikazia hospital in Rotterdam\, Eurocept clinics (complex wounds) and Blaak clinics (varicoses treatments). Dr. Cazander is passionate about\, and specialised in\, complex wound healing and diabetic foot. In 2005\, she started investigating larval therapy and received international awards for her work. Her thesis (Amsterdam\, 2010) was called: ‘How do maggots operate?’\, about the underlying mechanisms of action of larval therapy. She still participates in wound research projects and has been a speaker and participant at many national and international congresses. Since 2020\, Dr. Cazander is OC member of the International Symposium on Diabetic Foot (ISDF). Moreover\, she is Medical Director of surgery at the Eurocept care company since 2024 and is developing more high-quality complex wound care and diabetic foot care in the Netherlands\, with the aim of setting up new Dutch clinics for this purpose. \n  \nProfessor Luca Dalla Paola is based in the Department of Medical Sciences at the Ferrera University School of Medicine and a visiting professor at Harvard Medical School. \nSurgical activity: Limb salvage\, Charcot foot reconstuction\, Conservative surgical treatment of osteomyelitis\, Amputations (major-minor)\, Reconstruction with bioengineered tissues\, Plastic surgery\, Diabetic foot wound care. 13000 surgical procedures on diabetic foot in the last 10 years (1000/year).\nScientific activity Member of Italian Diabetic Foot Study Group. Member of European Diabetic foot Study Group (DFSG) of EASD. Chairman of International Course on Diabetic Foot 2002 (ICDF2002). Chairman of International Course on Diabetic Foot 2004 and 2007. Chairman of  International Course on Charcot Foot 2012 (ICDF2012). Chairman of International Course on Osteomyelitis and Diabetic Foot 2014 (ICDF2014). Past Chairman of International Association of Diabetic Foot Surgeons (ADF-S). Member of editorial board of  “Diabetic Foot and Ankle”. \nAwards: Paul Brand Award 2016. Ilizarov Award 2018.\nMember of the DIABETIC FOOT WORLD DAY scientific board. Director International Fellowship program on Diabetic Foot 2023-2024-2025 \nRegistration and Cancellation policy: This is a free event for members only and pre-registration is required. You do not have to submit a case to be able to register\, but the success of the event relies on your interesting cases and you won’t even have to present it! Simply reserve your place above or get in touch with us at info@esvs.org. \nSending us your case: If you want a chance to have yours selected\, please send it in\, using the case submission template (sticking to the number of slides as much as possible\, order can be changed)\, to ciara@esvs.org by Wednesday 26th March. If your case is selected for the event\, you will be awarded a FREE Academy workshop ticket of your choice\, at the 2025 Annual Meeting (except CCVUS; the European Triathlon; and the collaborative session with NOTSS)! The Annual Meeting takes place this year in Istanbul\, Türkiye 23rd – 26th September 2025. \nLet us know if you want to remain anonymous; have your case explained by the KOL; or whether you prefer to take a few minutes to introduce your case on the day. The panel will then review and select two of the most interesting and appropriate cases for the session and show you how it could be done!  There will be time at the end for questions from the audience about these and other PAD cases. \nKeep any eye on our KOL Forum case library and social media as cases will be added before and after the event\, to start the discussion between you and the KOLs. \nWhere registration numbers are too low to run the event\, this will be announced on the website no later than 48 hours before the event starts. DESCRIPTION:The Academy is pleased to welcome back:\nHow to publish a systematic review/meta analysis\nDid you miss it last year? They’re back!\nYou will be in the capable hands of: Phil Stather and Graeme Ambler \nObjective: Attendees will be walked through the steps necessary to perform and publish a systematic review. Systematic reviews of the published literature are a well recognised and respected way of contributing to our understanding of vascular disease. The course is designed to give the participants wider and clearer knowledge of how to plan\, conduct\, write up and publish a systematic review. As well as advancing knowledge\, performing and publishing a systematic review is an excellent way to enhance your curriculum vitae and career opportunities. The course is run by vascular surgeons who have enormous experience in conducting and supervising systematic reviews. By attending this course\, participants will know how to plan\, perform\, write up and publish a systematic review. \nTarget audience: Vascular surgeons\, vascular trainees and vascular nurses who want to advance their careers and curriculum vitae\, as well as contributing to the scientific literature\, by performing and publishing one or more high quality systematic reviews. \nRegistration and Cancellation policy: € 25 for ESVS members and € 30 for non-members. The number of attendees is limited in order to maximise the ability of the convenors to provide an individual and tailored learning experience. Please note that the course is dependent on final registration numbers. Where registration numbers are too low to run the course\, this will be announced on the website no later than 48 hours before the course starts. For cancellations received more than 10 days before the event\, a refund will be given less an administration fee of EUR10. For cancellations received less than 5 days before the event\, no refund is possible.
