SUMMARY:Endoleak Workshop: Advanced Management Strategies and Hands-On Training - 1st edition!
DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with: Department of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery\, USL TOSCANA CENTRO\, Florence\, Italy\nCourse confirmed! Please go ahead and book your travel and accommodation!\nThis session provides a comprehensive overview of endoleak management\, focusing on the entire process from diagnosis to treatment optimisation. The discussion begins with the identification and classification of endoleaks\, emphasising the use of advanced imaging techniques such as contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS)\, computed tomography angiography (CTA)\, and CO2 angiography to accurately diagnose and characterise the issue. Participants will learn how to evaluate the clinical relevance of an endoleak\, considering factors such as aneurysm sac growth\, patient health\, and the nature of the leak to decide between intervention and observation. The session will then delve into the development of a tailored treatment strategy\, providing a step-by-step guide to selecting the optimal approach based on the type and location of the endoleak. Access routes such as transarterial\, transealing\, translumbar\, and transcaval will be reviewed\, with guidance on how to determine the most appropriate option for each case. Techniques for embolisation will be explored in depth\, including the selection and application of coils\, liquid embolic agents\, and plug devices\, along with strategies for addressing challenging anatomy or persistent leaks. Participants will gain insights into optimising procedural outcomes\, including tips for precision during interventions\, the importance of imaging for real-time guidance\, and protocols for post-treatment monitoring. Real-world case studies will be presented to illustrate decision-making and treatment execution\, offering attendees a practical understanding of endoleak management and enhancing their ability to achieve successful patient outcomes. \nObjectives:\nEquip participants with advanced knowledge and practical skills for managing endoleaks.\nDeepen understanding of coils\, liquid agents\, and their clinical applications.\nFoster a collaborative and interactive learning environment through case discussions and hands-on experiences. \nJoin the faculty team:\nEmiliano Chisci – Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Unit  “San Giovanni di Dio” Hospital\, Florence\, Italy\nMichele Piazza – Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Padova; Italy\nFrancesca Calcagni – Radiology Unit  “San Giovanni di Dio” Hospital\, Florence\, Unit\nEnrico Gallitto – UO di Chirurgia Vascolare Interaziendale di Bologna\, IRCCS Policlinico S.Orsola\, Università di Bologna – DIMEC\, Bologna\, Italia\nGianbattista Parlani – Azienda Ospedaliera Perugia\, Santa Maria della Misericordia\, Perugia\, Italia\nLorenzo Patrone – Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Unit  “San Giovanni di Dio” Hospital\, Florence\, Italy\nKak Khee Yeung – Full Professor\, Vascular Surgery. DESCRIPTION:Please join us in Barcelona for another MARB course!\nCourse confirmed – please go ahead and book your travel and accommodation!\nYour convenors will be: Zoran Rancic & Elena Iborra\nThe faculty guiding you includes: Ramon Vila\, Emma Espinar\, Begoña Gonzalo\, Carolina Herranz\, Malka Huici\, Carlos Martinez-Rico\, Dorelly Martínez-del-Carmen\, Antoni Romera\, Raul Lara\, Esther Alba\, Raul Herrera\, Irene Tatger\, Ivan Macía\, Zoilo Madrazo. \nTwelve vascular surgeons who will have to deal with the management of a ruptured aortic aneurysm (RAAA) are the target audience for the novel and exclusive MARB course. It is a 2-day course that seeks to cover all the details regarding a ruptured aneurysm. \nThe course aims to offer students the skills they need to manage the RAAA comprehensively and empower them. We also intend to provide students with the tools to create a programme to improve RAAA management in their centre. We will give them the resources needed to manage a RAAA effectively\, to export and apply the information and behaviours they learned in their home country. \nIt is a twenty-hour face-to-face course distributed over two days of intense work. The student collaborates with peers in small groups while being supervised by tutors who are subject matter experts. Due to the focused attention\, the student can clarify questions in an ongoing\, casual conversation. It involves academic components and a practical application of learning by putting the student in the position of the instructor. \nDuring the mornings\, we will review several theoretical aspects: \n\n\n\nHaemodynamic RAAA Approach: We will discuss the main periods in patient management and how to behave in each circumstance with the assistance of an anaesthesiologist.\nRadiological Interpretation: We will review the results of multiple CT scans and share the critical tools that will allow the learner to read a CT angio accurately.\nVascular RAAA Management: Being assessed by experienced Vascular Surgeons and working on a simulator\, we will see how to perform an efficient aortic clamping on a critical patient\nAbdominal Compartment Syndrome: We will concentrate on abdominal compartment syndrome\, working with a general surgeon to understand how to identify and treat it.\nNon-Technical Abilities: We will introduce you to the non-technical skills that are useful in emergencies and are required for the team to perform well\n\nDuring the afternoons\, we will move to two different scenarios: \n\nIn the dissection room\, we will begin with an anatomical overview of the aorta. The student will receive a review of the essential anatomy to perform atypical aortic approaches that may allow above the renal arteries or thoracic aortic clamp. It will be followed by a practical exercise with cadaver models to put the lessons learned into practice.\nWe will implement rAAA management in the hybrid operating room and hold a debriefing to review the team’s development during the exercise.\n\n\n\n \nCome to the dissection room at the University of Barcelona School of Medicine and try alternative aortic approaches to save your patients. \n  \n  \n  \n \nYou can also come to see our hybrid operating room and practice your skills during a simulation. \n  \n  \n  \nLearning Objectives \n\nDevelop a thorough understanding of RAAA management techniques.\nEmpower yourself with the skills required to handle RAAA cases effectively.\nGain insights into creating and implementing a program to enhance RAAA management at your center.\n\nProgramme Description \nDuration: 20 hours over two intense days.\nFormat: Face-to-face sessions with small group collaboration and expert supervision. \nWhy MARB? \n\nExpert Guidance: Benefit from the mentorship of experienced vascular surgeons and subject matter experts.\nPractical Application: Move beyond theory with hands-on exercises in realistic scenarios.\nCollaborative Learning: Engage with peers in small groups for personalised attention and ongoing discussions.\n\nSecure your spot now to elevate your expertise in RAAA management.\nLimited seats are available.\nDon’t miss your chance to be part of this transformative experience.\nWe look forward to welcoming you to the MARB course! \nParticipant level: The target group is vascular surgeons with limited experience in RAAA management. Based on prior experience\, participants will work in teams of three. \nRegistration & Cancellation Policy: The registration fee is €950 for ESVS members and €1200 for non-members. SUMMARY:EVF HOW - Hands-on Workshop on Venous Disease
DESCRIPTION:Baden\, Switzerland | 2-4 October 2025 \nInterest in venous disease has increased throughout Europe since 2005. Although there were several symposia\, congresses\, that were organized on vascular medicine\, most courses were structured with the familiar format of presentations\, discussions and occasionally demonstrations on technique rather than actual hands-on training. \nThe format combines “state-of-the art” presentations providing up-to-date information of modern practical management of venous disease\, illustrated by case management discussions\, live demonstrations\, and most importantly\, hands-on instruction with training on modern procedures. \n\nFind more information here.
