DESCRIPTION:  \n \nThe ESVS Academy invites you to their upcoming workshop: Diagnosis and treatment of popliteal artery aneurysm. \nJoin: Igor Koncar\, Martin Bjorck\, Anne Cervin and Irwin Mohan. \nObjective \nPopliteal artery aneurysm is limb and life-threatening condition due to its complications – thrombosis and rupture. Low incidence of this disease impede gaining expertise in treatment. Open repair of PAA is both challenging and controversial since multiple options are available and evidence to support any strategy is scarce. From the diagnostic dilemma of screening to controversial questions of approach (dorsal/medial) and conduit (graft/vein) selection and decision to choose endovascular solution when results are still difficult to compare with invasive open repair. \nThrough interactive case discussion model and voting of the audience experts in this field will guide you through all these controversies and many more\, share with audience their experience\, and openly discuss all arguments used to select treatment strategy in these patients. \nBy attending this course\, participants will know the indications for some specific treatment modalities and be able to decide if they are the most appropriate for given patient. SUMMARY:Basic Vascular Ultrasound Course
DESCRIPTION:The ESVS Academy invites you to Crowne Plaza hotel in Belgrade\, Serbia for the upcoming Basic Vascular Ultrasound Course. \n1-2 November 2022 \nJoin: Igor Koncar\, Belgrade\, Kim Kargaard Bredahl\, Denmark and others\, to be confirmed. \nObjectives \nVascular ultrasound provides immediate diagnostic\, and may provide clinically important information that cannot be obtained by any other imaging modality. Vascular ultrasound is harmless and can be performed at the bedside. \nThe course is 50% theoretical and 50% hands-on. During the course\, participants will be taught physics and principles behind vascular ultrasound\, ultrasound anatomy and how to perform basic vascular ultrasound examination. This includes abdominal aorta\, femoral arteries\, peripheral bypasses\, basic carotid ultrasound\, deep venous thromboses and varicose veins. Classroom sessions will be followed by hands-on sessions\, where course participants will have the opportunity to practise under supervision on patients with relevant vascular disease. \nThis course corresponds to the curriculum of the theoretical part of EFSUMB Level 1 in Vascular Ultrasound (European Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology). Attendance at the entire course is mandatory\, in order to receive a course certificate with your CME points. \nParticipants’ qualifications \nThe course is aimed at vascular surgeons\, vascular residents\, nurses\, technicians\, sonographers taking their first steps. Knowledge of human anatomy is mandatory but prior experience with ultrasound is not required. \nCME and Medtech \nCME accreditation is being requested for this session. \nMedtech accreditation is being requested for this session. DESCRIPTION:A collaboration between: ESVS Academy; Department of Vascular Surgery\, Copenhagen\, Denmark; Copenhagen  Academy for Medical Education and Simulation (CAMES)\, Denmark. \n\n“This educational programme focuses on elective endovascular treatment of infrarenal aortic aneurysms (EVAR) and is designed for novices and advanced beginners. The format is mixed e-learning and hands-on training. You will be continuously assessed and will\, if you pass\, be certified according to the validated standards developed and used in Copenhagen”. \n\nJoin: Jonas Eiberg\, Professor of Vascular Surgery; Timothy Resch\, Professor of Vascular Surgery; Michael Strøm\, MD\, PhD; Rebecca Andrea Conradsen Skov\, MD – and other experts \nLearning objective  \nTo obtain technical and non-technical skills in elective infrarenal EVAR\, and make pre-trained novices ready to continue their surgical training in the OR under supervision. \nProgramme description \nENHANCE is a certifying simulation-based educational programme aiming to prepare vascular surgical trainees to perform EVAR on patients with infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysms. ENHANCE consists of mandatory precourse e-learning and 3 intensive days of hands-on training in Copenhagen. We use high-fidelity simulators and the latest evidence within course design\, assessment and certification. \nParticipants will perform case sizing and planning on 3D-sizing stations and complete several EVAR procedures as surgeons and assistants on virtual reality endovascular simulators. Everything is supervised by highly experienced EVAR surgeons guiding the participants through each step of the EVAR procedure. Trainee to trainer ratio is 2:1\, ensuring intensive learning and feedback. \nPlease note \n\nCompleting and passing a comprehensive ENHANCE e-learning programme is mandatory before hands-on training in Copenhagen. Accepted participants will receive a link for the modular eL program 3-4 weeks before the hands-on sessions in Copenhagen.\nYou will be continuously assessed during the course and will be certified according to the validated standards developed in Copenhagen if you pass.\nWe aim to improve our training through research\, and data collection for such work may be part of ENHANCE. Data collection will be strictly confidential and comply with GDPR and Danish legislation.\nParticipants for ENHANCE will be selected among the applicants based on a survey and interview.\n\nParticipant level \nThe target group is novices and advanced beginners\, typically vascular surgical trainees. Prior basic knowledge of abdominal aortic anatomy is expected. To ensure optimal learning and benefit\, completing an online questionnaire and interview is mandatory before a seat can be given. Schrimpf\, HH Eckstein\, B Rantner\, A Halliday  \nPlease note that this workshop is being postponed until further notice. \nWe apologise for the inconvenience. \nObjective \nAsymtomatic carotid artery Stenosis is a very common vascular disorder based on generalized atherosclerosis within the vascular bed. Treatment of severe carotid artery stenosis is performed to restore patency and reduce stroke risk. Nevertheless\, the procedural risk for disabeling stroke or death is about 1% in CAS and CEA. The course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge useful in their daily practice. The course will highlight the findings of the ACST II trial based on clinical cases and also highlight current treatment guidelines on carotid artery stenosis. \nDuring this workshop\, each expert will present a case of carotid artery stenosis and the way the patient was treated (max. 8 min/case for a total of 36 min). At the end\, a summary will be given highlighting the important key points discussed during the session (10 min). \nBy attending this course\, participants will learn\, based on real life clinical cases\, how the findings of the ACST II impact the treatment for asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis. The participants will be able to decide if they are up to date with the latest carotid surgery treatment recommendations and will be able to adjust their treatment accordingly. The WS aims to help practitioners decide to find the most appropriate therapy for their patient.  \nParticipants’ qualifications \nThe Controversial case discussion is designed for every vascular surgeon\, vascular surgeon in training or interventional radiologist\, angiologist or interested general practitioners who deal with asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis during daily practice. A general knowledge of therapies for asymptomatic carotid stenosis is expected. Also experienced surgeons can benefit from this workshop as findings of the ACST II trial and current treatment guidelines in relation to real life clinical cases and treatment strategies will be discussed. It seems that there is a lack of vascular surgeons treating venous pathologies. Thus the course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge useful in their daily practice. As the pool of phlebological patients is very wide and many treatment modalities can be utilised\, the course will highlight the indications for some specific methods\, which are the most appropriate for given patients. Due to the fact that new ESVS clinical practice guidelines on the management of chronic venous disease of the lower limbs were published in 2022\, there is a need to update the knowledge to improve treatment efficiency. \nBy attending this course\, participants will know the indications for some specific treatment modalities and be able to decide if they are the most appropriate for given patient. A thought that there is no unique and perfect treatment modality for each patient will be presented and highlighted. DESCRIPTION:EVST invites you to the Aemilia Hotel in Bologna for a special Hands-on Workshop. \n13-14 May 2022 \nJoin: Stefano Ancetti (Italy) Bahaa Arefai (Spain) Enrico Cieri (Italy) Liliana Fidalgo Domingos (Portugal) Enrico Gallitto (Italy) Mauro Gargiulo (Italy) Zoran Rancic (Serbia) Petar Zlatanovic (Serbia) \nObjectives \n\nProvide fundamental knowledge on standard EVAR to trainees going through proximal and distal landing zone evaluation and endograft choice based on anatomical characteristics\nProvide information on each of the most used endograft available on market\nExposure to repeated planning and implant simulations of standard EVAR mentored by renowned European experts in their field\n\nTarget audience: The workshop will be most useful for trainees in the middle part of their training but trainees just starting or finishing their training are are welcome to apply. \nRegistration : Registration is now closed\, as of March 25th. This event\, including reasonable travel expenses\, accommodation\, course materials and all meals\, is offered free of charge. \nThere are just 14 places that are available for EVST members only and as such\, an application procedure will determine which people will benefit the most from the sessions. Your stage of training\, experience with EVAR\, personal motivation\, plan for application of applied knowledge and accessibility to EVAR simulation opportunities will be critical in persuading the review team. As a minimum for your application\, this needs to be evidenced by your CV\, letter of motivation and recommendation letter from the Chief of the department. If selected\, we ask that you secure your place with a €200 deposit that will be returned once you have attended the event. An active EVST registration and Valid Covid Pass are required to apply and take part in the event. \nAccreditation: MedTech accreditation is being requested for this session. \nPhotos: Participants should be aware that photos will be taken during the sessions and may be used by the ESVS in our publicity. \nCancellation policy: We encourage you to let us know as early as possible\, to free up a place for someone else. For cancellations received more than 10 days before the event\, the deposit will be refunded\, less an administration fee of 10 EUR. SUMMARY:Hands-on Workshop in Vascular Ultrasound - Barcelona
DESCRIPTION:The ESVS Academy invites you to Bellvitge University Hospital for the upcoming Hands-on Workshop in Vascular Ultrasound. \n4-6 May 2022 \nObjective  \nThe course provides a thorough grounding in the clinical skills to work in vascular ultrasound. \nDuring the course\, participants are presented an intensive series of short lectures focussed on technical aspects of the different US examinations. Lecturers explain the examinations while performing one in the same room on selected patients. \nClassroom teaching is supplemented by sessions at the Vascular Laboratory\, where participants have the opportunity to practice their skills under supervision on patients with relevant disease and on silicone models for  US guided puncture. Hands-on sessions last  5 hours each day. (4 participants /1 tutor/ 1 station) \nE-learning module \nBefore attending the course\, participants will have access to an on-line blended learning module that will introduce them to the basic knowledge of ultrasound and the standards of the different examinations. \nThe e-learning module includes:\n• all presentations of previous editions.\n• a quiz that helps to review basic concepts of US physics\, the anatomy of commonly examined areas and most important diagnostic criteria.\n• a forum open to questions from all participants.\n• a survey about previous US experience that will help us to prepare the groups for the workshop.\nThis preparatory module is intended as a tool to save time in lectures\, allowing more time for hands-on practice. It will open 15 days before the course and close one month after it. Registered participants will receive access instructions before April 20th . \nParticipants’ qualifications \nThe workshop is addressed mainly to novice trainees and to those willing to prepare for the CCVUS examination. \nRegistration fee \nThe registration fee is €750 for ESVS members and €800 for non-members. It includes course materials\, coffees\, lunches and a course dinner on 4th May.
