However\, the minimally invasive nature\, shorter procedural time\, quicker patient recovery time and improved technology available\, popularised Carotid artery stenting (CAS) beyond its original indications. Nevertheless\, the most important limitation to the widespread use of CAS is represented by a lack of skill by operators. The objective of the workshop is to offer the opportunity to the participants to improve their skills with CAS. This will be done through a theoretical section of the course\, with specific presentations about the materials and technique\, as well as a more hands-on section of the course\, where participants can use simulators and have the possibility to assist in a hybrid room\, and finally\, discussions with the faculty team and operators on 6 different cases of CAS. \nParticipant level: The course is designed for experienced interventionalists (vascular surgeons\, radiologists\, cardiologists\, neuro-radiologists) who want to start with a carotid artery stenting programme in their institution. Prior experience in endovascular procedures (200) is required. \nAccreditation: CME and Medtech accreditation are being requested for this course. \nRegistration & Cancellation Policy: The registration fee is € 300 for ESVS members and € 380 for non-members. It is a 2-day course that seeks to cover all the details regarding a ruptured aneurysm. \nThe course aims to offer students the skills they need to manage the RAAA comprehensively and empower them. We also intend to provide students with the tools to create a programme to improve RAAA management in their centre. We will give them the resources needed to manage a RAAA effectively\, to export and apply the information and behaviours they learned in their home country. \nIt is a twenty-hour face-to-face course distributed over two days of intense work. The student collaborates with peers in small groups while being supervised by tutors who are subject matter experts. Due to the focused attention\, the student can clarify questions in an ongoing\, casual conversation. It involves academic components and a practical application of learning by putting the student in the position of the instructor. \nDuring the mornings\, we will review several theoretical aspects: \n\n\n\nHaemodynamic RAAA Approach: We will discuss the main periods in patient management and how to behave in each circumstance with the assistance of an anaesthesiologist.\nRadiological Interpretation: We will review the results of multiple CT scans and share the critical tools that will allow the learner to read a CT angio accurately.\nVascular RAAA Management: Being assessed by experienced Vascular Surgeons and working on a simulator\, we will see how to perform an efficient aortic clamping on a critical patient\nAbdominal Compartment Syndrome: We will concentrate on abdominal compartment syndrome\, working with a general surgeon to understand how to identify and treat it.\nNon-Technical Abilities: We will introduce you to the non-technical skills that are useful in emergencies and are required for the team to perform well\n\nDuring the afternoons\, we will move to two different scenarios: \n\nIn the dissection room\, we will begin with an anatomical overview of the aorta. The student will receive a review of the essential anatomy to perform atypical aortic approaches that may allow above the renal arteries or thoracic aortic clamp. It will be followed by a practical exercise with cadaver models to put the lessons learned into practice.\nWe will implement rAAA management in the hybrid operating room and hold a debriefing to review the team’s development during the exercise.\n\n\n\n \nCome to the dissection room at the University of Barcelona School of Medicine and try alternative aortic approaches to save your patients. \n  \n  \n  \n \nYou can also come to see our hybrid operating room and practice your skills during a simulation. \n  \n  \n  \nLearning Objectives \n\nDevelop a thorough understanding of RAAA management techniques.\nEmpower yourself with the skills required to handle RAAA cases effectively.\nGain insights into creating and implementing a program to enhance RAAA management at your center.\n\nProgramme Description \nDuration: 20 hours over two intense days.\nFormat: Face-to-face sessions with small group collaboration and expert supervision. \nWhy MARB? \n\nExpert Guidance: Benefit from the mentorship of experienced vascular surgeons and subject matter experts.\nPractical Application: Move beyond theory with hands-on exercises in realistic scenarios.\nCollaborative Learning: Engage with peers in small groups for personalised attention and ongoing discussions.\n\nSecure your spot now to elevate your expertise in RAAA management.\nLimited seats are available.\nDon’t miss your chance to be part of this transformative experience.\nWe look forward to welcoming you to the MARB course! \nParticipant level: The target group is vascular surgeons with limited experience in RAAA management. SUMMARY:EVF HOW - Hands-on Workshop on Venous Disease
DESCRIPTION:Baden\, Switzerland | 2-4 October 2025 \nInterest in venous disease has increased throughout Europe since 2005. Although there were several symposia\, congresses\, that were organized on vascular medicine\, most courses were structured with the familiar format of presentations\, discussions and occasionally demonstrations on technique rather than actual hands-on training. \nThe format combines “state-of-the art” presentations providing up-to-date information of modern practical management of venous disease\, illustrated by case management discussions\, live demonstrations\, and most importantly\, hands-on instruction with training on modern procedures. \n\nFind more information here.

The viva voce practice will follow the format of case-based discussion with PowerPoint slides to focus questions and answers. The session is mapped to the FEBVS curriculum and covers a wide range of vascular conditions. Clinical presentation\, pathology\, investigation including imaging and treatment options will be covered during the session. Participants will be split into groups with one member of faculty for each group. Each participant will be asked to manage a clinical scenario for a minimum of 10 minutes under simulated (online) exam conditions whilst the other members of the group observe the discussion. Timings need to be strictly adhered to and will accommodate the number of candidates in each session. The timing of the session will allow for some feedback from the convenors on your performance as well as the chance for candidates to ask any questions. \nOn completion of this section of the course\, as well as assimilating knowledge of lower limb\, carotid\, aortic and venous conditions\, candidates will have a high level of understanding of how to approach answering clinical oral exam questions in an ordered\, organised and logical way. On completion of the course the candidate will have improved their chance of passing the FEBVS examination. \nTarget audience: The course is designed for all vascular surgical trainees who are considering taking professional exams in vascular surgery. \nRegistration and cancellation policy: € 25 for ESVS members and € 30 for non-members. Please note that the course is dependent on final registration numbers. Where registration numbers are too low to run the course\, this will be announced on the website no later than 48 hours before the course starts. For cancellations received more than 10 days before the event\, a refund will be given less an administration fee of EUR10. For cancellations received less than 10 days before the event\, no refund is possible. Please be aware that the online session will be recorded and following the session we may share snippets of the recording across social media and communication platforms and in our ESVS Library.  If you don’t wish to appear on these recordings\, please ensure your camera is switched off prior to the start of the session. \nCME: CME accreditation is not being sought for this course. \nBECOME A MEMBER TODAY\nFind relevant guidelines and explore the e-library for podcasts\, ESVS journals\, videos\, virtual vascular and more! \n  \n
