SUMMARY:PAD Pathways : Basic Anastomosis 2023
DESCRIPTION:Did you miss it last year?\nHere is your chance to participate in another of our hands-on (online) Basic Anastomosis courses \n2 part- course: 1st June (17:30-19:30) &\n13th June (17:30-19:30) \nRegistration deadline extended to May 17th midday!\nJoin Kak Khee Yeung\, Carl Wahlgren\, Maarten Truijers and Desiree van den Hondel as they guide you through Basic Anastomosis training. \nSuturing vascular anastomosis is one of the main basic skills in vascular surgery. It is very specific and experiences with other anastomosis are not useful to perform vascular anastomosis. Lack of open surgical procedures in the common vascular surgical practice due to evolution of endovascular techniques is reducing training volume in everyday training. Also\, training on models is these days\, the recommended method for most surgical techniques. The course is designed to give the participants the possibility to learn  about and perform vascular anastomosis on a model\, being supervised by experts online. Such a course will provide participants with basic theoretical knowledge regarding anastomotic suturing and provide them with models to train and be evaluated on in the second session. \nBy attending this course\, participants will come to know the principles of the vascular anastomosis\, the drawbacks and technical tips\, as well as how to improve their technique. They will  be prepared to perform vascular anastomosis on their own patients under a certain level of supervision. They will learn how to use the model and how to perform end-to-side and end-to-end anastomosis through practice. \nNext steps: \n\nSign up\nReceive your kit (yours to keep)\nFollow the demonstrations by the expert faculty\nPractice live\, online with the aid of a camera on your model\nReceive personalised feedback on your work\n\n \n  \nIntended audience: The course is designed for vascular surgeons\, vascular surgeons in training.  Basic knowledge of vascular anatomy and physiology is expected. \nRegistration: Course fees : 300€ ESVS members\, 400€ non-members (includes kit and shipment within Europe – shipment costs for outside of Europe will be invoiced separately). Registration will close on May 17th midday to allow time to ship the kits to you. Please provide a home delivery address\, not a work one. This is a 2-part course and so we highly recommend you register for both dates. We recommend that you ask an ‘assistant’ to join you during the sessions. They will be a second pair of hands to help you\, for practical reasons i.e. allowing your to be hands-on with the equipment whilst the ‘assistant’ ensure the camera is well-positioned and a clear image is broadcast. \nBECOME A MEMBER TODAY \nCancellation policy: Once your registration has been confirmed and your equipment kit ordered we are unable to issue refunds. \nCME: CME accreditation is being requested for this session. \nRecordings: Participants are aware that the online session will be recorded and may be used by the ESVS on our website and e-library.

SUMMARY:EVST Aortic Competition (online)
DESCRIPTION:EVST invites you to the special Aortic Online Competition on 5th June 2023 \nParticipation in this competition is limited to EVST members\, but all who wish to watch are invited to join. Further details will be shared closer to the event. \nFaculty: Sebastian Debus\, Michael Jacobs\, Marko Dragas\, Xavier Berard\, Zoran Rancic (Academy)\nModerators: Petar Zlatanovic\, Vaiva Dabravolskaite\, Liliana Domingos (EVST) \nDespite the advances of endovascular AAA repair\, open surgery still remains a treatment option for a certain pool of patients. With fewer open surgeries performed annually\, the number of trainees and junior surgeons with adequate experience will decline in the future. Due to the fact that open surgery is a more durable solution\, younger generations of vascular surgeons should be trained in both standard and complex open aortic surgery\, and the idea of this competition is to promote this important aspect of education for every vascular surgeon. This online competition is designed to enhance and promote the acquisition of AAA skills in planning and performing open aortic surgery. \nHow will it work?\nAfter applying\, participants will be provided with the case description and the necessary CTA in order to produce their presentation. The participants shortlisted to compete\, will attend the online competition where they will present a solution for a specific case that they’ve worked on and submitted in advance (7 minutes). The jury will then comment and ask each competitor specific questions related to their solution (5 minutes). After the competition element\, each of the senior faculty will present the actual solution that was carried out. Following a vote\, the winner will be announced at the end of the competition.  All of this will be performed in a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere\, so don’t be stressed! \nTarget audience: Participation in this competition is limited to EVST members. Applicants should be familiar with the concept of open aortic surgery before applying for this competition. All who wish to watch are invited to sign up via a link that will be shared closer to the time. \nRegistration: \nRegistration competitors: To apply for this online competition\, please send a CV and motivation letter to phoebe@esvs.org. You will then receive a case including CTAs and baseline clinical characteristics\, which you should use to produce your presentation. You will also receive a link to the online quiz.\nPlease note\, applications will close at midday on 19th May. The quiz and presentation must be submitted by 21st May. The shortlisted candidates will be announced by 29th May.\n \nEach participant will then be shortlisted based on the following criteria: \n\nQuality of their presentation for the specific AAA case\, which will be submitted in advance. This should include preoperative planning\, the procedure itself and postoperative workup.\nA motivation letter\nA short quiz\n\nThe eight best applicants will be chosen to participate in the online competition on 5th June. Those invited to compete will be sent a link to make a deposit of 50 euros to hold their space in the competition. This will be refunded after the event. \nRegistration audience: Please email us at info@esvs.org to register to be in the audience! \nPrize: The prize for this competition is 600 euros!\nPhotos: Participants should be aware that photos will be taken during the sessions and may be used by the ESVS in our publicity.\nCancellation policy: We encourage you to let us know as early as possible if you are not able to attend the competition\, to free up a place for someone else. For cancellations received more than 4 days before the event\, the deposit will be refunded\, less an administration fee of 10 EUR. For cancellations received less than 4 days before the event\, no refund of the deposit is possible.

SUMMARY:Planning and sizing Elective and Emergent TEVAR
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce a course in the aortic Pathway! \nJoin: Zoran Rancic\, Christos Karkos\, Fernando Gallardo\, Igor Koncar\, Ferdinanc Serracino-Inglott & Enrico Gallitto \nObjective \nEndovascular procedures on aortic aneurysms and dissection are increasingly encountered in clinical practice. Such a procedure requires careful and accurate sizing and planning as this step will prevent unexpected and undesirable complications during the intervention. In order to improve accuracy\, planning of aortic procedures by segmentation\, creating centre lumen line and stretching the aorta measuring accurately lengths while orthogonal cross sections are used for accurate diameter measurements. Beside length\, and diameter measurement of angulation and in advance definition of C-arm position secure safe and precise stent-graft deployment. A software will be used to make demonstrations during the course. The theoretical part of the workshop will introduce participants to the pathology of thoracic aorta\, important features diagnosis\, steps of the TEVAR stent-graft deployment\, and the consequences of mistakes occurred at this step. Specific clinical situations will be addressed and pathognomonic signs of different thoracic diseases. Thus the course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge useful in their daily practice. \nBy attending this course\, participants will familiarize themselves with one software for sizing and planning endovascular procedures\, learn how to use it for specific thoracic pathologies (aneurysm\, rupture\, dissection) and how to prevent the procedural complications through precise and adequate measuring. \nTarget audience: Basic to moderate. The course is designed for vascular and endovascular surgeons\, vascular surgeons in training\, endovascular physicians in training.  Basic knowledge of vascular anatomy and physiology is expected. For the active participation in Sizing and Planning of emergent TEVAR the understanding of acute aortic pathology (dissection and rupture) is required. \nRegistration and Cancellation policy: € 28 for ESVS members and € 33 for non-members. Please note that the course is dependent on final registration numbers. Where registration numbers are too low to run the course\, this will be announced on the website no later than 48 hours before the course starts.
