SUMMARY:ESVS Management of Central Venous Stenosis and Occlusion in Dialysis
DESCRIPTION:The Academy is delighted to announce a new course in the Dialysis Pathway!\nESVS Management of Central Venous Stenosis and Occlusion in Dialysis  \nYou will be in the capable hands of:\nFlavia Gentile\nRoberta Brambilla\nMatteo Tozzi\nAlexandros Mallios\nFernando Gallardo   \nObjective: Central venous stenosis and occlusions of the major intrathoracic veins (jugular\, subclavian\, brachiocephalic\, superior vena cava) can jeopardise arteriovenous fistula/graft function\, or limit access creation options in end-stage kidney disease. This workshop highlights indications/contraindications\, and management options of central venous occlusion and stenosis in the ESKD patients on HD. \nAs central venous stenosis and occlusion is a more common vascular disorder because of the rising number of patients with end stage renal disease on catheter\, its treatment requires many specialists to be able to deal with this  problem. Thus\, the course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge that will be useful in their daily practice. The course will highlight the indications for some specific methods\, which are the most appropriate for given patients. The eligible cases will be presented\, and a tailored treatment indicated. By attending this course\, participants will know the indications for some specific treatment modalities and be able to decide if they are the most appropriate for a given patient. A thought that there is no unique and perfect treatment modality for each patient will be presented and highlighted. \nPre-learning: Vascular Access: 2018 Clinical Practice Guidelines of the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ejvs.2018.02.001 \n \nFull programme \nTarget audience: The course is designed for vascular surgeons\, vascular surgeons in training and interventional radiologists in training\, with an intermediate level of knowledge of vascular access \nCME: CME accreditation is being requested for this session. \nRegistration and Cancellation policy: € 25 for ESVS members and € 30 for non-members. Please note that the course is dependent on final registration numbers. SUMMARY:PAD Pathways : Basic Anastomosis 2023
DESCRIPTION:Did you miss it last year?\nHere is your chance to participate in another of our hands-on (online) Basic Anastomosis courses \n2 part- course: 1st June (17:30-19:30) &\n13th June (17:30-19:30) \nRegistration deadline extended to May 17th midday!\nJoin Kak Khee Yeung\, Carl Wahlgren\, Maarten Truijers and Desiree van den Hondel as they guide you through Basic Anastomosis training. \nSuturing vascular anastomosis is one of the main basic skills in vascular surgery. It is very specific and experiences with other anastomosis are not useful to perform vascular anastomosis. Lack of open surgical procedures in the common vascular surgical practice due to evolution of endovascular techniques is reducing training volume in everyday training. Also\, training on models is these days\, the recommended method for most surgical techniques. The course is designed to give the participants the possibility to learn  about and perform vascular anastomosis on a model\, being supervised by experts online. Such a course will provide participants with basic theoretical knowledge regarding anastomotic suturing and provide them with models to train and be evaluated on in the second session. \nBy attending this course\, participants will come to know the principles of the vascular anastomosis\, the drawbacks and technical tips\, as well as how to improve their technique. They will  be prepared to perform vascular anastomosis on their own patients under a certain level of supervision. They will learn how to use the model and how to perform end-to-side and end-to-end anastomosis through practice. \nNext steps: \n\nSign up\nReceive your kit (yours to keep)\nFollow the demonstrations by the expert faculty\nPractice live\, online with the aid of a camera on your model\nReceive personalised feedback on your work\n\n \n  \nIntended audience: The course is designed for vascular surgeons\, vascular surgeons in training.  Basic knowledge of vascular anatomy and physiology is expected. \nRegistration: Course fees : 300€ ESVS members\, 400€ non-members (includes kit and shipment within Europe – shipment costs for outside of Europe will be invoiced separately). Registration will close on May 17th midday to allow time to ship the kits to you. Please provide a home delivery address\, not a work one. This is a 2-part course and so we highly recommend you register for both dates. We recommend that you ask an ‘assistant’ to join you during the sessions. They will be a second pair of hands to help you\, for practical reasons i.e. allowing your to be hands-on with the equipment whilst the ‘assistant’ ensure the camera is well-positioned and a clear image is broadcast. \nBECOME A MEMBER TODAY \nCancellation policy: Once your registration has been confirmed and your equipment kit ordered we are unable to issue refunds. \nCME: CME accreditation is being requested for this session. \nRecordings: Participants are aware that the online session will be recorded and may be used by the ESVS on our website and e-library.

SUMMARY:Carotid Pathway: basic carotid surgery hands-on workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Claudia Schrimpf\, Mathias Wilhelmi\, Floran Enzmann & others\, to be confirmed \nThis is an online workshop in the Carotid Pathway of the ESVS online workshop series for surgical techniques \nThe workshop consists of two parts\, divided into two separate days. On day one\, short introductory presentations will be given for surgical techniques\, then the participants will be divided into groups of 4-5 people and be taught by one tutor to perform the carotid endarterectomy and patchplasty (day 1)\, as well as eversion endarterectomy (day2). The second day of the course will also be used to ask additional questions from day one. \nCarotid artery disease is a common vascular disorder that may lead to neurological symptoms or worse\, to disabling stroke. As advances in medical treatment\, and endovascular or hybrid techniques advance\, less and less carotid endarterectomies or eversion endarterectomies are performed as open vascular procedures. Thus\, the course is designed to teach the participants general techniques in a hands-on workshop to perform carotid surgery. We use a simple but useful simulator and surgical instruments that will be shipped to the participants prior of the course and can be used individually afterwards. \nThe participants will receive a vascular simulator kit containing two carotid bifurcations and surgical instruments needed to perform carotid surgery. We recommend that you ask an ‘assistant’ to join you during the sessions.  This is essentially a second pair of hands with you for practical reasons i.e. allowing yourself to be all hands on the equipment\, with the ‘assistant’ helping ensure a clear image is broadcast. \nKit list (yours to keep): \n \nTarget audience: The course is designed for trainees/ vascular surgeons with basic level knowledge. Carotid endarterectomy is one of the elements of the FEBVS practical exam and doing this WS will increase your ability to pass it. It is helpful if you have already participated in the Basic Anastomosis WS\, but it is not a requirement. You should also be familiar with general anastomosis techniques: anchor and parachute technique. \nNext steps: \n\nSign up\, giving a private (home) address and not an address at your hospital / place of work to receive the kit. You will be sent a tracking number by email.\nReceive your kit\nPractice online under the supervision of renowned experts\, giving you personalised feedback on your work\n\nRegistration: Registration is open now and will close on 24th April to allow time to ship the kits. Course fees – both sessions inclusive: 300€ ESVS Members\, 400€ Non-members (includes kit and shipment within Europe – shipment outside of Europe will be invoiced separately). \nCancellation policy: Once your registration has been confirmed and your equipment kit ordered we are unable to issue refunds. The final decision of whether the course will be conducted is announced on the website no later than one month before the course starts. \nCME: CME accreditation is not being requested for this session. \nRecordings: Participants should be aware that the online session will be recorded and may be used by the ESVS on our website and e-library. \nBECOME A MEMBER

SUMMARY:Diagnosis and treatment of popliteal artery aneurysm
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nThe ESVS Academy invites you to their upcoming workshop: Diagnosis and treatment of popliteal artery aneurysm. \nJoin: Igor Koncar\, Martin Bjorck\, Anne Cervin and Irwin Mohan. \nObjective \nPopliteal artery aneurysm is limb and life-threatening condition due to its complications – thrombosis and rupture. Low incidence of this disease impede gaining expertise in treatment. Open repair of PAA is both challenging and controversial since multiple options are available and evidence to support any strategy is scarce. From the diagnostic dilemma of screening to controversial questions of approach (dorsal/medial) and conduit (graft/vein) selection and decision to choose endovascular solution when results are still difficult to compare with invasive open repair. \nThrough interactive case discussion model and voting of the audience experts in this field will guide you through all these controversies and many more\, share with audience their experience\, and openly discuss all arguments used to select treatment strategy in these patients. \nBy attending this course\, participants will know the indications for some specific treatment modalities and be able to decide if they are the most appropriate for given patient. A thought that there is no unique and perfect treatment modality for each patient will be presented and highlighted. \nParticipants’ qualifications \nThe course is designed for basic level of knowledge of pathology and pathophysiology of the aneurysm disease as well as knowledge about clinical presentation is expected. The participants should be familiar with diagnostic procedures. \nRegistration fee & cancellation policy \n€ 25 for ESVS members and € 30 for non-members. Please note that the course is dependent on final registration numbers. Where registration numbers are too low to run the course\, this will be announced on the website no later than 48 hours before the course starts. SUMMARY:Controversial case discussion ACST II trial: to treat or not to treat
DESCRIPTION:The ESVS Academy invites you to their upcoming workshop: Controversial case discussion ACST II trial: to treat or not to treat. \nJoin: C. Schrimpf\, HH Eckstein\, B Rantner\, A Halliday  \nPlease note that this workshop is being postponed until further notice. \nWe apologise for the inconvenience. \nObjective \nAsymtomatic carotid artery Stenosis is a very common vascular disorder based on generalized atherosclerosis within the vascular bed. Treatment of severe carotid artery stenosis is performed to restore patency and reduce stroke risk. Nevertheless\, the procedural risk for disabeling stroke or death is about 1% in CAS and CEA. The course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge useful in their daily practice. The course will highlight the findings of the ACST II trial based on clinical cases and also highlight current treatment guidelines on carotid artery stenosis. \nDuring this workshop\, each expert will present a case of carotid artery stenosis and the way the patient was treated (max. 8 min/case for a total of 36 min). This will be followed by a discussion of each case in the expert panel and questions from the audience (36 min/ total). At the end\, a summary will be given highlighting the important key points discussed during the session (10 min). \nBy attending this course\, participants will learn\, based on real life clinical cases\, how the findings of the ACST II impact the treatment for asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis. The participants will be able to decide if they are up to date with the latest carotid surgery treatment recommendations and will be able to adjust their treatment accordingly. The WS aims to help practitioners decide to find the most appropriate therapy for their patient. \nParticipants’ qualifications \nThe Controversial case discussion is designed for every vascular surgeon\, vascular surgeon in training or interventional radiologist\, angiologist or interested general practitioners who deal with asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis during daily practice. A general knowledge of therapies for asymptomatic carotid stenosis is expected. Also experienced surgeons can benefit from this workshop as findings of the ACST II trial and current treatment guidelines in relation to real life clinical cases and treatment strategies will be discussed. Of note: the workshop does not explain how to perform carotid surgery or stenting. \nThe course is open to vascular surgeons\, vascular surgeons in training\, vascular nurses\, angiologists and interventional radiologists as well as technologists from all around the world. \nRegistration fee & cancellation policy \n€ 25 for ESVS members and € 30 for non-members.
