EVST Aortic Competition (online)

Zoom

EVST invites you to the special Aortic Online Competition on 5th June 2023 Participation in this competition is limited to EVST members, but all who wish to watch are invited to join. Further details will be shared closer to the event. Faculty: Sebastian Debus, Michael Jacobs, Marko Dragas, Xavier Berard, Zoran Rancic (Academy) Moderators: Petar Zlatanovic, Vaiva Dabravolskaite, Liliana Domingos (EVST) Despite the advances of endovascular AAA repair, open surgery still remains a treatment option for a certain pool of patients. With fewer open surgeries performed annually, the number of trainees and junior surgeons with adequate experience will decline in the future. Due to the fact that open surgery is a more durable solution, younger generations of vascular surgeons should be trained in both standard and complex open aortic surgery, and the idea of this competition is to promote this important aspect of education for every vascular surgeon. This online competition is designed to enhance and promote the acquisition of AAA skills in planning and performing open aortic surgery. How will it work? After applying, participants will be provided with the case description and the necessary CTA in order to produce their presentation. The participants shortlisted to compete, will attend […]

Complex vascular access scenarios

Virtual Event Virtual Event

We are pleased to announce a new course in the Vascular Access Pathway, in collaboration with the Vascular Access Society (VAS)!  Complex vascular access scenarios  Join: Flavia Gentile, Anton Razuaev, Matteo Tozzi, David Shemesh, Roberta Brambilla  Objective The increased survival of patients in dialysis and the gradual increase in the age of uremic patients commencing chronic dialysis raises serious problems for the creation and maintenance of efficient vascular access. In cases in where it is extremely difficult to create arteriovenous fistulas (AVF) using existing upper limb veins, it is possible to resort to vascular grafts, lower limb AVF. Experts in the field will share their experience in particularly challenging situations necessitating complex procedures. The course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge useful in their daily practice. By attending this course, participants will learn treatment strategies in difficult access scenarios. A thought that there is no unique and perfect treatment modality for each patient will be presented and highlighted. Target audience: The course is designed for vascular surgeons who are performing vascular access surgery. An intermediate level of knowledge of vascular access is expected. Registration and Cancellation policy: € 25 for ESVS members and € 30 for non-members. Please note that […]

Virtual Event Virtual Event

Vascular access strategies in the elderly We are pleased to announce another course in the Vascular Access Pathway, in collaboration with the Vascular Access Society (VAS)!  Join: Flavia Gentile, Joris Rotmans, Matteo Tozzi & Maarten Snoejis  Objective The optimal vascular access for elderly patients remains a challenge, considering their comorbidities, life expectancy, higher risk of central venous catheter infection. Experts in the field will share their experience with regards to dialysis access in this specific population. The course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge useful in their daily practice. By attending this course, participants will learn treatment strategies in hemodialysis elderly patients . A thought that there is no unique and perfect treatment modality for each patient will be presented and highlighted. It may be useful for you to read "Vascular Access: 2018 Clinical Practice Guidelines of the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) DOI link" before the session. Target audience: The course is designed for vascular surgeons who are performing vascular access surgery. An intermediate level of knowledge of vascular access is expected. Planning and sizing Elective and Emergent TEVAR

Virtual Event Virtual Event

We are pleased to announce a course in the aortic Pathway! Join: Zoran Rancic, Christos Karkos, Fernando Gallardo, Igor Koncar, Ferdinanc Serracino-Inglott & Enrico Gallitto Objective Endovascular procedures on aortic aneurysms and dissection are increasingly encountered in clinical practice. Such a procedure requires careful and accurate sizing and planning as this step will prevent unexpected and undesirable complications during the intervention. In order to improve accuracy, planning of aortic procedures by segmentation, creating centre lumen line and stretching the aorta measuring accurately lengths while orthogonal cross sections are used for accurate diameter measurements. Beside length, and diameter measurement of angulation and in advance definition of C-arm position secure safe and precise stent-graft deployment. A software will be used to make demonstrations during the course. The theoretical part of the workshop will introduce participants to the pathology of thoracic aorta, important features diagnosis, steps of the TEVAR stent-graft deployment, and the consequences of mistakes occurred at this step. Specific clinical situations will be addressed and pathognomonic signs of different thoracic diseases. Thus the course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge useful in their daily practice. By attending this course, participants will familiarize themselves with one software for sizing and […]
