Virtual Event Virtual Event

The Academy proudly presents: How to Make a Meta-analysis You will be in the capable hands of: David Lewis; Phil Stather and Graeme Ambler Objective: Attendees will be walked through the steps necessary to perform and publish a systematic review. Systematic reviews of the published literature are a well recognised and respected way of contributing to our understanding of vascular disease. The course is designed to give the participants wider and clearer knowledge of how to plan, conduct, write up and publish a systematic review. As well as advancing knowledge, performing and publishing a systematic review is an excellent way to enhance your curriculum vitae and career opportunities. The course is run by vascular surgeons who have enormous experience in conducting and supervising systematic reviews. By attending this course, participants will know how to plan, perform, write up and publish a systematic review. Full Programme Target audience: Vascular surgeons, vascular trainees and vascular nurses who want to advance their careers and curriculum vitae, as well as contributing to the scientific literature, by performing and publishing one or more high quality systematic reviews. Carotid Pathway: basic carotid surgery hands-on workshop

online
Virtual Event Virtual Event

Join Claudia Schrimpf, Mathias Wilhelmi, Floran Enzmann & others, to be confirmed This is an online workshop in the Carotid Pathway of the ESVS online workshop series for surgical techniques The workshop consists of two parts, divided into two separate days. On day one, short introductory presentations will be given for surgical techniques, then the participants will be divided into groups of 4-5 people and be taught by one tutor to perform the carotid endarterectomy and patchplasty (day 1), as well as eversion endarterectomy (day2). The second day of the course will also be used to ask additional questions from day one. Carotid artery disease is a common vascular disorder that may lead to neurological symptoms or worse, to disabling stroke. As advances in medical treatment, and endovascular or hybrid techniques advance, less and less carotid endarterectomies or eversion endarterectomies are performed as open vascular procedures. Thus, the course is designed to teach the participants general techniques in a hands-on workshop to perform carotid surgery. We use a simple but useful simulator and surgical instruments that will be shipped to the participants prior of the course and can be used individually afterwards. The participants will receive a vascular simulator kit […]

PAD Pathways : Basic Anastomosis 2023

online
Virtual Event Virtual Event

Did you miss it last year? Here is your chance to participate in another of our hands-on (online) Basic Anastomosis courses 2 part- course: 1st June (17:30-19:30) & 13th June (17:30-19:30) Registration deadline extended to May 17th midday! Join Kak Khee Yeung, Carl Wahlgren, Maarten Truijers and Desiree van den Hondel as they guide you through Basic Anastomosis training. Suturing vascular anastomosis is one of the main basic skills in vascular surgery. It is very specific and experiences with other anastomosis are not useful to perform vascular anastomosis. Lack of open surgical procedures in the common vascular surgical practice due to evolution of endovascular techniques is reducing training volume in everyday training. Also, training on models is these days, the recommended method for most surgical techniques. The course is designed to give the participants the possibility to learn  about and perform vascular anastomosis on a model, being supervised by experts online. Such a course will provide participants with basic theoretical knowledge regarding anastomotic suturing and provide them with models to train and be evaluated on in the second session. By attending this course, participants will come to know the principles of the vascular anastomosis, the drawbacks and technical tips, as […]

EVST Aortic Competition (online)

Zoom

EVST invites you to the special Aortic Online Competition on 5th June 2023 Participation in this competition is limited to EVST members, but all who wish to watch are invited to join. Further details will be shared closer to the event. Faculty: Sebastian Debus, Michael Jacobs, Marko Dragas, Xavier Berard, Zoran Rancic (Academy) Moderators: Petar Zlatanovic, Vaiva Dabravolskaite, Liliana Domingos (EVST) Despite the advances of endovascular AAA repair, open surgery still remains a treatment option for a certain pool of patients. With fewer open surgeries performed annually, the number of trainees and junior surgeons with adequate experience will decline in the future. Due to the fact that open surgery is a more durable solution, younger generations of vascular surgeons should be trained in both standard and complex open aortic surgery, and the idea of this competition is to promote this important aspect of education for every vascular surgeon. This online competition is designed to enhance and promote the acquisition of AAA skills in planning and performing open aortic surgery. How will it work? After applying, participants will be provided with the case description and the necessary CTA in order to produce their presentation. The participants shortlisted to compete, will attend […]

Complex vascular access scenarios

Virtual Event Virtual Event

We are pleased to announce a new course in the Vascular Access Pathway, in collaboration with the Vascular Access Society (VAS)!  Complex vascular access scenarios  Join: Flavia Gentile, Anton Razuaev, Matteo Tozzi, David Shemesh, Roberta Brambilla  Objective The increased survival of patients in dialysis and the gradual increase in the age of uremic patients commencing chronic dialysis raises serious problems for the creation and maintenance of efficient vascular access. In cases in where it is extremely difficult to create arteriovenous fistulas (AVF) using existing upper limb veins, it is possible to resort to vascular grafts, lower limb AVF. Experts in the field will share their experience in particularly challenging situations necessitating complex procedures. The course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge useful in their daily practice. By attending this course, participants will learn treatment strategies in difficult access scenarios. A thought that there is no unique and perfect treatment modality for each patient will be presented and highlighted. Target audience: The course is designed for vascular surgeons who are performing vascular access surgery. An intermediate level of knowledge of vascular access is expected. Registration and Cancellation policy: € 25 for ESVS members and € 30 for non-members. Please note that […]
