The course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge useful in their daily practice in order to preserve the dialysis vascular access. Different treatment modalities can be utilised, the course will highlight the indications for some specific methods, which are the most appropriate for given patients. The eligible cases will be presented, and designed treatment indicated. By attending this course, participants will know how to deal with these common vascular access complications in order to preserve a functional access. What is next on the Vascular Access Academy Pathway ? 21st April (18:00-20:00) Join Flavia Gentile, Joris Rotmans, Matteo Tozzi, Roberta Brambilla and Anton Razuvaev Vascular access thrombosis is a very common vascular access complication. Early thrombosis most often due to an inflow problem and late thrombosis mostly to an outflow stenosis. If left untreated, it results in the fistula failure. Graft thrombosis is most often caused by neointimal hyperplasia. Thrombosis can be also a complication of needling. Treatment options include surgical thrombectomy or an endovascular approach which involves mechanical or pharmacologic thrombolysis. The course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge useful in their daily practice. The course will highlight the indications for a surgical or an endovascular technique, which are the most appropriate for given patients.
